Campaign literature is almost always a bore. But a political newsletter that also gives citizens advice on how to cut their budget and get out of debt will be a keeper.
Show people how to cut their family budgets, where and how to save money, or make money: selling on ebay or holding garage and yards sales with the proceeds mostly going to pay down any credit card debt they may have. The principle should be: Get rid of excess in order to have enough.
Credit card interest rates are sky-high courtesy of the VP candidate, Joe Biden. Make the link.Make the links of their economic problems and the politicians making the rules: forbidding drilling, etc Is there a citizen out there who wouldn’t welcome getting a royalty check in the amount of up to $1,200 as Alaskans do from Big Oil for drilling off our shores? California is broke but Alaska’s budget has a surplus from Big Oil royalties. Governor Schwarzenneger flies his super jet daily from LA to Sacramento so he’s not one to lecture us about environmentalism or a modest footprint.
Biden had much to do with the bankruptcy and credit card legislation causing families such difficulties.
Investor’s Business Daily has wonderful editorials and Ramirez’s cartoons are concept-rich. The best I’ve ever seen. . Once you have your newsletter’s content done, email them and ask for permission to use their work and lavish credit on them.
Distribute your newsletter to anyone who wants one. But make it a keeper. We can get rid of ALL the scoundrels in the House this time around, but only 1/3 of the Senators. Another 1/3 will be up for re-election in two years. The last 1/3 will be up for re-election in four years. If they know you’re watching and won’t go back to real life after the election, they won’t be able to do as they always do after an election, ignore average citizens and pay attention only to big donors until 6 weeks before the next election. Plus, I hope some of you will follow in Sarah’s footsteps and get into local politics and then state politics and then national politics.
Show the connection between the family and the national budget. To paraphrase Charles Grodin in the movie DAVE, when looking over the national budget: “who makes up this budget. I’d be fired or jailed if I did that.” People are hurting. Give them help now and show how Mc-Cain Palin will get government off their backs and bring prosperity back to America by unleashing our talents in the areas of drilling for oil, natural gas, clean coal technology, safe nuclear plant building, solar, wind, et al. We can become an energy exporter and rich in the process. Plus, our energy surplus will hurt our enemies. No more military toys for Putin or Chavez. They’ll be broke.
Write up the Barney Frank and his lover at Fannie Mae scandal in a way that’s juicy but would be appropriate if Frank’s lover had been Valerie Plame. This isn’t about Gays, it’s about lovers with a humongous conflict of interest. If gaypatriot.com has written up the story, ask to reprint it. I think that Barney Frank’s love affair with a top executive at Fannie Mae is absolutely fair game. But I’m a fan of gaypatriot.com and the Log Cabin Republicans who Reagan welcomed to his coalition. I never buy the National Enquirer but I used to scarf down the tabloids at my local beauty salon. I called it my “bubble-gum reading.” Gossip is terrible, terrible, but fascinating.
HIGH GAS PRICES have been devastating to many Americans who live where there is no public transit. Show that the Democrats WANT high gas prices to “get us over our dependency on oil.” But as T. Boone Pickens has said, alternative fuels are not there yet.
HIGH FOOD PRICES are traceable to corn ethanol subsides. Corn is fed to beef and pigs etc. Now, it’s being used for fuel instead. End the ethanol subsidies and food prices will eventually come down. And end the tariff on sugar-based ethanol from Brazil. Sugar isn’t good for your body. In your fuel tank, it’s not fattening.
Have lots of QUOTES from Sarah and McCain.
Tell the story of Sarah and BIG OIL. How she ended 30 years of squabbling and recently signed the papers for a 40 billion dollar pipeline that will bring natural gas down to the lower 48 through Idaho. Tell how the Alaskan state government AND its citizens get a royalty from the oil companies of as much as $2,000 a year per citizen. If we drill off California and Florida, the states will get much-needed revenue and the citizens should also get royalties. Surfers, writers, home-bound mothers and the disabled, all who lead a minimalist lifestyle would welcome royalties that would free them to spend time as they wish. That will fast-track drilling for oil past the watermelons (green on the outside, red on the inside) as the Russians call environmentalists. I’m for the purest water (which we don’t have) and the purest air (ditto). But putting some exotic bird or animal above the needs of humans, NO! By the way fish love the oil rigs and the caribou love the pipelines (the warmth).
If you come up with a dynamite newsletter, make 3 of the pages generic and one page local. Then, share it online. I would put it on this site. So would many others.
We have 3 weeks. That’s several lifetimes in political terms. We absolutely can win this election.
